Description

This is the third book in the Max Stories series after ¡Estamos fritos! and ¡Qué fuerte!.

In this story, Max begins seventh grade and notices that things feel different. His friends are still around, but routines change, moments become awkward, and a big Hispanic Heritage Month trivia competition brings excitement, pressure, and surprises. As Max faces wins, losses, and new emotions, he starts to understand that growing up is not always about winning—it’s about learning who you are.

Written with humor and a middle school perspective,
¡Qué raro! is perfect for Novice High learners and beyond, especially Spanish Levels 2–3. The story features clear language, short paragraphs, familiar vocabulary, and engaging illustrations that help students read with confidence and enjoyment.

A relatable and meaningful story for students who are learning Spanish—and learning about themselves.
