"Clementina" Book Launch - Part of the Revolucionarias collection
"What happens when women reclaim the stories that history left behind?

The Revolucionarias collection brings inspiring women to the center of the language classroom through stories written by women, about women. Clementina, la comerciante, the fifth book in the series, tells the true-to-spirit story of a woman who broke the glass ceiling, defied the gender norms of her time, and built a fortune of her own.

Join this book launch to discover the collection, explore the newest title, and learn practical ways to use these stories with Level 3–4 students, IB, AP, and heritage learners. Reading becomes not just language practice, but a gateway to critical thinking, empathy, and meaningful classroom conversations."

You Chose a Novel—Now What?
"So, you’ve chosen a novel for your class—great! But then comes the big question: In this practical, hands-on workshop, we’ll explore different ways to approach a class novel with confidence and purpose. We’ll focus on what to do before, during, and after reading, using strategies that don’t require hours of prep or a pre-made guide.

You’ll walk away with easy, flexible ideas you can implement right away, regardless of level or novel choice. Whether you’re new to teaching with novels or simply looking for fresh approaches, this session will provide concrete tools, adaptable frameworks, and a much clearer sense of what to do when you open that book with your students.

Perfect for world language teachers who want to make novels engaging, manageable, and meaningful. "

Designing and Using Accessible Word Clouds to Support Pre-Reading Comprehension
Participants learn how to design word clouds that invite students in: clear, readable, and pleasant to look at. The session presents ten practical applications that move beyond simple word recognition and support pre-reading vocabulary familiarisation, helping learners notice key words, reflect on meaning, and engage with vocabulary before reading a chapter with confidence.

Wednesday, March 11 6 p.m. ET Nelly Hughes
Reading Activities for the CI/ADI Classroom
"In second language classrooms, reading graded readers or level-adapted books is fundamental to the language acquisition process. There is a consensus that the more students read, the more language they acquire. For this reason, Nelly Hughes has compiled a variety of activities that have produced positive results with her students and that come from different blogs, workshops, and conferences. She invites you to explore some of the activities in this compilation, which you can use this school year, before, during, and after reading your favorite leveled readers. "
7 p.m. ET Eric Richards
Using Questioning and Personalization to Complement Stories
"Why questions? Questions elicit responses! By asking questions, you not only increase input and exposure to the target language, but you also allow students to personalize activities by giving their input. In this interactive session, we will look at how to use questioning and personalization to complement stories and increase student engagement and understanding of the target language. Plus, you will even get the chance to be a German student. (You do not need to know German to attend! In fact, you are encouraged to attend if you don’t know German. All languages are welcome!) "
Thursday, March 12 6 p.m. ET Marta Yedinak
Low-Prep Strategies for Engaging Reading
Marta Yedinak shares engaging pre-, during-, and post-reading activities designed to promote second language acquisition. Participants will explore interactive strategies that keep students actively involved with texts, build comprehension, and support vocabulary and language structures, helping learners develop confidence and sustained interest in reading in the target language.
7 p.m. ET Andrea Caulfield
10 Reading Strategies That Work with ANY Class Novel
This session will support teachers' needs from start to finish as they read any whole-class novel. Participants will examine 10 flexible strategies, including how to build excitement about the text before students begin reading, ways to promote "sneaky" re-reading of each chapter, activities that leverage higher-order thinking and textual analysis, and meaningful options for wrapping up a novel study!
