Make Small Talk About the "Universal Topic": Weather

Description

Wherever you go, people are always talking about what the weather is doing and what they think about it! Build up to using it as a starting point for “small talk” about what’s happening in students’ lives!

Tina’s Small Talk routine is described in detail in Year One: A Natural Approach to Proficiency-Based Instruction for the First-Year World Language Classroom (1B6377).

Good product

I use this every day with my students. I wish it had a magnetic backing so that it could easily attach to my classroom whiteboard and remove it when I needed more space.

Setting a Routine

The weather station can be used as a warm up, student volunteers love to fill it out, and it helps to establish a morning routine. The quality of poster is good and no ghosting of dry erase markers. I had an issue with the condition of my shipment and Teachers Discovery did an outstanding job in rectifying the issue. I will definitely be placing orders in the future.

Pretty good

This is a pretty good copy of Tina's formula. It does leave out some of her language, like "Yesterday was..." and "Tomorrow will be..."

Poor value for the money

For the price, the poster should already be cut out and set up with Velcro. I had to spend an additional $15 to get the Velcro I needed to make this poster a workable weather station. I also had to make cards for months and days. For $35 I just felt like this should've all been supplied for me.
