A story of liberation, values, equality, and acknowledgement, An Aztec Story of Friendship is a story of empowerment for all ages. It is inspired by solitude and the need to feel part of a community and to be accepted. Citlali, a young girl born into a family whose traditional values destined her to not leave her house, unhappily grows up subdued, alone, and without freedom.
The unexpected heroes of this story are found in her favorite plant in the garden, the poinsettia. These little yellow people at the center of the poinsettia are known by their scientific name, cyathia, and they want to rescue Citlali. Together, with a beautiful monarch butterfly and a handsome young man, they defeat the evil forces of manipulation and control, giving Citlali the life she desperately longs for—one of empowerment, inclusion, friendship, and community.
