We join Ana (from the first Blaine Ray reader, Pobre Ana) after her trip to Mexico. She has changed a great deal, and jumps at another opportunity to travel to Buenos Aires, Argentina. Ana has two main goals: to improve her Spanish and to learn to dance the tango. She makes many new friends in Buenos Aires, and she learns about the Argentine culture.

Great tool for learning about Past Tenses in Spanish

Pobre Ana comes back with a story in the past tense! A great way to practice preterite and imperfect. There are some inaccuracies in the story (such as claiming that almost eveybody dances tango in Argentina) but I understand it makes the plot and the storyline move forward. The book also includes the lyrics to a milonga but I cannot find this song anywhere to share with my students; I believe it's made up. Illustrations are on point and vocabulary is just the right level for my class.
