It’s not TikTok—it’s PikTok! PikTok posters use a familiar format to get students invested in the topics you teach. Students research, draw, and write to create posters of “viral” moments in Social Studies, from larger-than-life figures to world-changing events to big concepts. Includes 35 blank posters and an instructions download.
- Imagine King Tut’s “GRWM” routine and his “OOTD”
- Tally up the “likes” on the Magna Carta and record King John’s comments
- Draw the dance challenge that helped George Washington win the Revolutionary War
- Show “a day in the life” of Amelia Earhart as she piloted her first flight across the Atlantic
What Is PikTok?
PikTok is a set of blank posters designed to remind your students of their favorite social media app. They research and analyze major events and key concepts, then exercise their creativity to draw and interpret them through the lens of social media.
PikTok is meant to “unplug” your students and get them away from the screen—except for the included instructions download, no part of PikTok is an app or online. PikTok is not sponsored by or affiliated in any way with TikTok.
How Do You Use PikTok?
Students choose or are assigned a topic. They analyze or conduct further research to create original drawings and text interpreting that topic as if it were a post on social media.
You can also use PikTok to break the ice and allow students to introduce themselves during the first week of class. Have them draw their “GRWM” (get ready with me) routine and their “OOTD” (outfit of the day) or illustrate “a day in the life”—theirs or their favorite celebrity’s or a historical figure’s.
Poster: Set of 35. 12 x 18 inches. Heavy paper. All levels.
Instructions Download: PDF. Adobe® Reader® required to view PDF.
