About the Authors

Dr. Amber Godwin is a professor at the College of Education at Sam Houston State University. She earned her Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from Texas A&M University in 2015. Her research aims to develop critical thinking experiences for learners and explore interventions that enhance Social Studies education. Prior to entering higher education, Amber taught AP World History and served as an essay scorer for the AP College Board. In her free time, she enjoys spontaneous dance parties and going on adventures with her family.

 

 

Arren Swift has many years of experience teaching high school social studies, including five years in AP U.S. History. He is currently completing his Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction with a focus on social studies, and was an adjunct professor at the University of South Florida, teaching secondary social studies methods courses. In 2019, he was appointed to a professorship at Sam Houston State University in the department of Teaching and Learning.
