Authentic communicative tasks such as those used in Integrated Performance Assessments (IPAs) are challenging, real-world scenarios that call upon students’ creativity and proficiency, not just in the language but also with the cultures about which students are learning. This session will show you how to utilize authentic tasks in all communicative modes both as stand-alone tasks and as preparations for an IPA, and will also touch on best practices when administering an IPA.
