A native of Chihuahua, Mexico, Sonia Dolores Estrada Morales studied at the Instituto Mexicano-Norteamericano de Relaciones Culturales, and taught courses in Protocol and Public Relations. Sonia has held many high-level government posts in Mexico, hosting ambassadors from around the world. She has a special affinity for the indigenous Rarámuri people of the Chihuahua sierra.
